Refund Policy
[Draft] This English edition is being prepared for the international service and is under legal review. It applies to accounts registered on the international service; purchases made on the Korean service are covered by the Korean edition.
This policy explains how you may withdraw from a purchase and obtain a refund for paid content in Joytalk Online. It does not affect any right you have under the consumer law of the country in which you live; where that law gives you more than this policy does, that law applies.
Article 1 (Purpose and Scope)
This policy sets out the basis and procedure for cancelling a payment, withdrawing from a purchase, and obtaining a refund for paid services and digital content (in-game currency and items, passes and the like — "Paid Content").
Article 2 (Where Purchases Are Made)
- On the international service, Paid Content is sold only through in-app purchase on the Apple App Store or Google Play. Joytalk does not sell Paid Content on this website.
- Because the store is the seller of record for those purchases, requests for a refund should normally be made to the store first, under the store's own refund rules. The store handles payment, receipts and billing enquiries.
- Where the store declines a request that you are entitled to make under Article 3 or Article 4 of this policy, contact us at support@joy-talk.com and we will deal with it directly.
Article 3 (Right of Withdrawal)
- If you are a consumer in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you have 14 days from the day the contract is concluded to withdraw from a purchase of digital content, without giving a reason.
- That right ends once delivery of the digital content has begun, where you gave your prior express consent to delivery beginning before the end of the withdrawal period and acknowledged that you would lose the right of withdrawal. In-game currency and items are delivered to your account immediately on purchase, so this consent is requested at the time of purchase.
- Consumers in other countries have the withdrawal or cooling-off rights given by the law of their own country. We will honour those rights.
- Regardless of paragraphs 1 to 3, where Paid Content does not match its description or is not supplied as agreed, you may seek a remedy within the period allowed by the law that applies to you.
Article 4 (Basis for Refunds)
- Unused Paid Content. Paid Content that has not been used is refunded in full within the withdrawal period in Article 3.
- Partly used Paid Content. Where a time-limited product has been partly used, we may refund the balance after deducting the value of the part already used and the cost of making the refund.
- Currency and items given free of charge (through events, bonuses and the like) are not refundable, as no payment was made for them.
- Store fees and payment-processing charges may be deducted to the extent permitted by the law that applies to you.
Article 5 (Procedure)
- Request a refund through the store where you made the purchase. If that is not possible, or the store declines a request you are entitled to make, write to support@joy-talk.com.
- We will tell you the outcome of a request made to us within 7 business days of receiving it.
- Where a withdrawal is valid, we reimburse you within 14 days of being informed of your decision, using the same means of payment you used, unless you expressly agree otherwise. You will not incur any fee as a result of the reimbursement.
- Where the store processes the reimbursement, the time it takes to reach you depends on the store and on your payment provider.
Article 6 (Purchases by Minors)
- Where a person below the age of majority in their country made a purchase without the consent of a parent or guardian, that person or their parent or guardian may ask for the purchase to be cancelled, to the extent the law of that country allows.
- Cancellation may be limited where the purchase was made from funds a parent or guardian had allowed the minor to spend, or where the minor misrepresented their age or claimed to have consent.
- We may ask for information reasonably needed to establish the relationship between the person making the request and the account holder. We ask only for what is necessary and delete it once the request has been dealt with.
Article 7 (When a Refund May Be Refused)
A refund may be refused where:
- the right of withdrawal has ended under Article 3(2);
- the account has been restricted or suspended for a breach of the Terms of Service, and the law that applies to you does not require a refund; or
- the Paid Content was obtained or paid for by improper means.
